I had my first appointment at DentalWorks for a routine cleaning, but the experience left me disappointed and feeling a bit misled about costs.
When I checked in, I clearly told the assistant I was there for a cleaning. She didn’t mention that they do an evaluation/exam first and that the actual cleaning would require a separate appointment. She also said they needed to take X-rays and, when I specifically asked if they were covered by my insurance, assured me yes (or she would have told me otherwise). The doctor was friendly and professional, he reviewed the X-rays, said everything looked good, and that was positive.
Right before I left, the assistant mentioned needing a panoramic X-ray, so we went ahead with it. Then at checkout, I was hit with a surprise: my insurance didn’t cover the panoramic, and I had a copay to pay out of pocket. I was never informed upfront about the potential cost or given the option to decline it, especially after the doctor had already said things were fine. This felt sneaky, particularly since I had asked about coverage earlier.
Last year at another dental office, I never had unexpected copays, and any balances were always clear upfront. I followed up about this at my later cleaning appointment, but the front desk staff wasn’t apologetic or helpful when I explained why it didn’t seem right.
The doctor and hygienist were nice, but the lack of transparency from the assistant and front desk about charges, especially after I directly asked, makes me hesitant to recommend this place. Communication about insurance and costs needs major improvement to avoid surprises like this.

My first visit today and what a wonderful experience from check in to X-rays to exam.
I heard lots of laughing and conversations and it seemed as if everyone enjoys working there and the clients were engaging also! Dr Ybanze was so jolly!!!!!! Definitely would recommend.

I received an upper denture from DentalWorks in August 2024. At the time of purchase, I was told the denture should last approximately five years. In January 2026, it fractured completely down the middle with full separation.
I contacted the office to request that the denture be examined to determine whether the fracture could be related to a manufacturing or design defect. I was told it was outside the warranty period and that any repair would be at my expense. The office declined to examine the denture and advised that speaking with a business manager would not change the outcome.
My goal was simply to have the denture evaluated and to understand my options.
Unfortunately, the interaction felt dismissive, and the call ended before the concern could be fully addressed.
I ultimately went to Aspen Dental, where I had a much more professional and friendly experience. I would recommend that anyone considering dentures ask detailed questions about durability, reinforcement options, and how structural failures are handled after the warranty period.
Im sure Dentalworks AI response review bot will write some charming reply. They don't care.

I had an excellent experience at DentalWorks in Jacksonville, NC, with Dr. Ibanez and his entire team. Dr. Ibanez is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient—he takes the time to explain things clearly while also being very respectful of your time. You never feel rushed, yet everything moves smoothly.
The dental technicians work seamlessly in tandem with him, and it really shows. They are all highly knowledgeable, professional, and attentive, making the entire visit comfortable and stress-free. The teamwork and communication in this office are top-notch.
From start to finish, the experience was organized, calm, and confidence-building. If you’re looking for a dental office that combines expert care, great bedside manner, and efficiency, I highly recommend DentalWorks and Dr. Ibanez.

The people at Dental works in Jacksonville N.C. are fantastic.i got my teeth deep cleaned. Scared of the dentist with past bad experiences, they talked me thru everything and made me feel comfortable. Thanks to the great staff my teeth feel much better, and my confidence in smiling is way better. I definitely have better feelings goin to the dentist.
